About us

C.M. Sean Carrington is a Barbadian who graduated with a BSc in Biological Sciences (Honours Botany) from the University of Edinburgh and followed this with a DPhil in Plant Physiology at the University of York (UK). He spent 39 years on the academic staff of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. He was made Professor Emeritus of Plant Biology of the UWI on his retirement in 2021.

This website was inspired by an introductory botany course taught by the late Philip Smith of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. It was launched in 1997, revised over time and was totally redeveloped in 2026.
